DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered launches on Xbox Series X|S on November 10, 2026. Aspyr is bringing the 2004 action-adventure back with updated presentation and additional features, including four-player multiplayer that supports both local and online sessions.

Release date and supported platforms

The date was confirmed during the October ID@Xbox showcase. Aspyr’s publisher announcement also lists PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

For Xbox players, the announced console version is Series X|S. Check the individual store listing before purchasing for another Xbox model rather than assuming support from the franchise’s original Xbox history.

What is changing in the remaster?

Aspyr describes improved textures, an enhanced interface, updated cutscenes, and 4K support on specified platforms. The new Photo Mode offers a way to capture scenes, while the Cheats Menu provides additional ways to adjust a playthrough.

The adventure retains its character-based structure: switch heroes to use their different abilities in combat and environmental puzzles. Familiar locations connect the journey from Shrek’s swamp to the kingdom of Far Far Away.

Four-player co-op is a major part of the package

The announced multiplayer options include couch co-op, online play, and mixed local-and-online sessions for up to four players. Solo play is also supported.

Our view is that this flexibility is the remaster’s most useful addition for returning players. It gives a group more ways to arrange a session without requiring everyone to be on the same sofa. The announcement does not, however, establish cross-platform multiplayer between different console families.

Price, discounts and Game Pass

Aspyr lists a standard US price of $29.99 and a digital preorder offer of $26.99. Xbox’s showcase recap separately advertises a preorder discount of up to 20% for Game Pass members and 10% for non-members through November 9. Check your regional store for the applicable offer.

A membership discount is a purchase benefit; it does not confirm inclusion in the Game Pass library. The Xbox announcement describes Shrek 2 Remastered as a preorder release.

Before buying, confirm the edition, regional price, multiplayer requirements, and supported hardware. The trailer provides a useful first look, while launch coverage will be needed to assess performance and the quality of the finished remaster.
