Xbox CEO Asha Sharma used an internal town hall to discuss the brand’s recent performance and its priorities. Her “return to growth” remark has attracted attention, but the context matters: reporting on the meeting says the chart she was discussing referred specifically to first-party games, not total Xbox revenue.

Sharma said Xbox had been at an all-time low and that the company had started to return to growth. Windows Central later clarified that the chart concerned first-party growth. That distinction means the statement should not be read as a report that every part of Xbox, or Microsoft’s gaming revenue overall, has returned to growth.

The four priorities and what they mean

Sharma described four areas guiding the company: core, content, creation and connection. She emphasized strengthening the current Xbox Series X|S generation, said the next generation under Project Helix is intended to be a family of devices, and suggested Game Pass could become more flexible for different players. She also discussed simplifying Xbox publishing tools and supporting PC storefronts.

She also pointed to strong starts for Gears of War: E-Day, Minecraft Dungeons 2 and World of Warcraft Forever, and cited a 30% rise in positive brand sentiment. Those figures and statements were shared in an employee meeting, rather than a formal financial filing.
